From our inception, the Self Reliance Foundation has always focused our efforts on helping underserved communities. While the bulk of our programs have targeted recent Latino immigrants to the United States, our initial projects helped the rural poor in New Mexico – and particularly American Indians – to find ways to maintain their traditional homes and lands in the face of encroaching urbanization. Our festivals initiatives reach into urban environments, offering hands-on educational activities for families and parents in five major cities in the United States. With our Mundo 2000 project, we also reached across the radio waves into Latin America to provide pertinent information on reproductive health. In all of our work, we try to provide people with the
information they need in order lead better lives and fulfill their potential as members of our
