Position Title: Development Officer
Reports to: Development Director

Overview: SRF seeks a seasoned Development professional with expertise in government and foundation fund raising, as well as major donor development to round out a first-rate development team.

The Development Officer is responsible for identifying and securing funding for major initiatives in health, education, informal science, and civic engagement, mostly media-based and conducted in collaboration with our for-profit media partner, the Hispanic Communications Network.

Applicants must have:
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Media savvy
• B.A. in Liberal Arts, Social Sciences, or Education; Masters preferred
• At least five years work experience in Development, including major gifts, proposal writing, and prospecting
• A passion for serving the underserved
• Proven success in securing federal, foundation, and corporate giving funds, especially for initiatives targeted at communities of color
• Proficiency in written and oral Spanish

Preferred applicants will:
• Be bi-cultural in addition to being bilingual
• Have a working knowledge of and relationships within Washington, D.C. Latino community.
• Have particular interest or expertise in public health and/or civic engagement
